Inclusion in Your babyballet® Class
Here at babyballet®, we help every little star find their passion for dance. Inclusivity has always been at the heart of what we do, right from Claire’s very first classes twenty years ago. This April, in celebration of World Autism Acceptance Month, we’re proud to shine a spotlight on how we welcome and support every child, every step of the way.
Inclusion at babyballet: What It Looks Like
For us, ‘inclusion’ is more than just a word. At baby ballet, we’ve created spaces where every child can access the joy of music and dance and of course, experience our unique magic. From the familiar and reassuring structure of our sessions to the multi-sensory equipment we use such as our babyballet® character dolls, inclusivity is woven into every baby ballet class.
In every babyballet class:
- Our teachers are trained to be flexible and patient, adapting activities to suit every child’s individual needs;
- Our classes follow a warm, familiar structure, helping children feel safe and confident;
- We support every child’s communication needs through our use of Makaton and other visual cues in every class;
- We deliver our carefully planned syllabus that combines music, movement and play to support children’s learning in fund and engaging ways.

What is babyballet® Shine?
Whilst every child is welcome in our mainstream babyballet classes, we recognise that for some of our babyballet® stars, a dedicated SEND dance space can be even better.
That’s why we’ve developed our SEND specific programme, babyballet® Shine. These classes offer children the opportunity to fully express themselves and increase their body awareness through sensory creativity and dance.
babyballet stars access the class with the support of their parent or carer and are introduced to different music and props. Our babyballet Shine classes are supported using Makaton and a SEND structure. Find out more about our baby ballet Shine SEND classes, for children from Early Years to Key Stage 1, here.
