We’re sure Miss Vikki is made of stardust… She has an infectious personality, instantly makes the room brighter and she leaves a little bit of sparkle wherever she goes!

And for 10 sparkling babyballet® years, Vikki has brought magic to the lives of little stars and their families, teachers, friends, staff, fellow franchisees, and the Head Office team, who all absolutely adore her.

So today, we celebrate the incredible person she is, and the diamond anniversary of her babyballet® business. We hope you will join us in sharing your favourite memories from the last decade!

Back in 2010, Miss Vikki found babyballet when she began teaching classes for the previous owner of the franchise. This followed a phenomenal professional career, performing in some of the world’s most renowned musicals in London’s West End! But as she became a mum of two, it was time for her to dance down a different avenue.

babyballet couldn’t have fit more perfectly into her life. It meant she could keep her love of performing alive and be present whilst raising her two young children. So, when the franchise was put up for sale in 2013, she was first in line to take the reins!

With Louis, now 16, and Jemima, now 11, her precious children and loving husband have been intrinsic to supporting her babyballet journey. For when you own a small business, it is an all-encompassing part of your life. You don’t clock off at 5pm and leave work behind, but you do get to share your passion with those who are closest to you.

“Throughout the past 10 years, my family has been my rock. My husband has been there for me in countless ways, supporting me in every aspect except teaching a class! My son has been an incredible source of technical support, especially during lockdown. He helped create numerous videos and taught me invaluable online skills! My daughter, now known as Miss Jemima, attends classes and is a fantastic assistant. The children adore her, and she is a tremendous help on show days. My parents, in-laws, and sister have provided immense support with childcare, shows, and fetes. Among my team of teachers, I’ve found lifelong friends. I am deeply grateful for the unwavering support from everyone close to me over the past 10 years.” says Miss Vikki.

The babyballet® dance school which spans across Maidstone, Malling, and Medway in Kent, has grown to teach over 500 children per week! The number of children who have learnt to dance at the franchise in the last decade, is therefore in the THOUSANDS! And it is incredible to think of the immeasurable number of memories that the children and their families have made that they will treasure forever.

Miss Vikki expresses her deep gratitude for the incredible team that surrounds her, of whom she couldn’t be without. With a special shout-out to Miss Alison, who has been teaching for the franchise for over 12 years! Miss Charmaine and Miss Jenna, who have also taught for ‘tutu’ many years it is difficult to count, and every single member of her team past and present who have contributed to the special place babyballet Maidstone, Malling and Medway is today.

It must be said though that they were inspired by their incredible leader, Miss V, who oozes babyballet magic in everything that she does. Still to this day, Miss Vikki would tell you that she has the best job in the world and even in the worst of times, babyballet, the friends she’s made and the stories from a 3-year-old in class, are just the tonic she needs.

During COVID-19, Miss Vikki famously told Claire O’Connor, friend, and CEO of babyballet “We will fluff out our tutus and carry on Miss Claire!” and with that, she did what she does best, lifting morale and continuing with unwavering commitment to filling her classes with happiness and fun! Even when they were online, being streamed live from her living room!

Reflecting on the past 10 years, Miss Vikki cherishes the memories of the stage shows she and her team have produced. Both, independently and in collaboration with Miss Stephanie at babyballet® Tunbridge Wells. We just love how closely our franchisees work together, providing special moments for each child to shine. One moment that stands out for Miss Vikki, is when ‘Bear’, a little 4-year-old boy with double leg amputation danced beside her on stage. She recalls that the embrace she received from his mother after the performance will forever hold a special place in her heart. “It was an absolute highlight!”

We can’t go without mentioning how babyballet® Maidstone, Malling and Medway have enthusiastically participated in numerous Children in Need events as well as every single Tommy’s Danceathon. Their efforts have raised thousands of pounds for both charities, a truly remarkable achievement! Miss Vikki’s ability to dress up, be silly and have fun will always make her an amazing role-model to all the children who she teaches.

Vikki has also had the pleasure of sharing babyballet with some famous faces along the way. But she is a celebrity in her own right! Miss Vikki never misses an opportunity to get out and tell the world what babyballet is all about. They have participated in countless local family and village fun days, featured on the radio, within the BBC Children in Need’s televised show and Miss Vikki even visited ITV studios to film ‘This Morning’.

As we’re sure you can tell, passing on her love for theatre and dance to all her babyballet® stars brings immense joy to Miss Vikki’s heart. And for those who have the pleasure of being a part of her journey, she has spread so much happiness too.
